Google Tag Manager Handling
ZeeMee Cookie Consent allows Google Tag Manager (GTM) to be activated only after the visitor has given consent.
When enabled, the plugin treats Google Tag Manager as a functional service loader, rather than a tracking tool itself. The container is only loaded once the visitor has granted consent to the relevant cookie categories.
This approach aligns with current interpretations of privacy requirements in several EU jurisdictions, including Germany, where regulators emphasize that tracking technologies must only be activated after valid consent. When used with Google Consent Mode, tracking and advertising tags remain blocked until the user has explicitly approved the relevant categories.
This implementation helps website owners configure Google Tag Manager in a way that supports privacy-compliant consent management.
Multilingual Cookie Documentation
The plugin allows administrators to define cookie descriptions per language profile. Each profile corresponds to a specific <html lang=""> value, allowing websites with multilingual setups (e.g. Polylang or WPML) to show cookie information in the correct language automatically.
If no matching language profile is found, the plugin will fall back to the selected default profile.
Privacy
